HR Advisor

We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor to join our team at a time of significant and positive transformation. This role offers the chance to contribute to shaping a supportive and evolving workplace environment.

While you will have a primary base location, flexibility is required to work across the Whitireia and WelTec campuses in Petone and Porirua.

About the role | Te kaupapa

As an HR Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting managers and staff by providing high-quality, practical HR advice. Reporting to the Lead Advisor, People Services, you will work collaboratively within the wider People Services team, operating under an account management model.

We are currently undertaking a range of initiatives focused on aligning the systems and people practices of Whitireia and WelTec. This generalist role provides exposure to a broad range of HR activities and organisation-wide projects, offering excellent development opportunities across the full employee lifecycle.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive HR professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will bring strong business acumen, sound judgement, and a solution-focused mindset, ensuring your advice supports effective and positive outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• At least two years’ experience in an HR Advisory role, with a sound working knowledge of current HR practices and New Zealand employment legislation
• Strong judgement with the ability to see the broader organisational context
• The ability to foster a positive workplace culture in a changing environment
• A clear, confident, and professional communication style
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
• A proactive approach to identifying gaps and opportunities to enhance HR service delivery
• A tertiary qualification in a related field (preferred)
